The Piper of Illmarsh

The Piper of Illmarsh (real name unknown)
A murderer who operated around the vicinity of the backwater town of Illmarsh, he was responsible for over 30 deaths that confused authorities for quite a long time, his victims found with all their belongings and their manner of death seemingly unattributable to any person.

Before he attacked his victims, the Piper taunted his targets with a mournful dirge on his flute hidden from their sight. He preferred to paralyze lone victims by sneaking into their camp and dosing their meals with the paralytic ‘lich dust’. Once paralysed he then allowed his pet stirges to drink the victims dry of blood.

He was captured after a long manhunt when he tried to murder a small group of travelers and one escaped shaking loose the effects of the poison and running while the stirges drained his friends. It did not take long before authorities tied the various victims together and credited them to the Piper.

Like most madmen, he was only too happy to confess to his methods of murder and how he had managed to fool authorities for so long
